Preconception Counseling
Planning a pregnancy? It’s important to schedule a visit with an Obstetrician/Gynecologist for a
preconception visit. It’s best to be in good physical condition and begin pregnancy as healthy as
possible. It is recommended that women take a multivitamin containing folic acid during
childbearing years. Folic acid can help prevent birth defects. Based on your family or pregnancy
history, your physician may recommend screening tests such to detect genetic abnormalities such as
sickle cell or cystic fibrosis. If you are considering a pregnancy, call our office at
828-322-4140 to schedule an appointment for preconception counseling. You’ll be glad you did!
